Dana Olsen is a Lecturer in the Apparel Merchandising program, focusing on buying and planning. In between graduating from IU in 2005 and returning as a faculty member in 2016, Professor Olsen worked mostly for Bloomingdale’s in the New York corporate office. Her professional career has included both buying and planning roles with experience in different families of business (fragrance, home goods, etc.), in stores as well as online and omnichannel. In addition to teaching a core class in the Merchandising curriculum, she is now mentoring students involved in the Retail Studies Organization and case competitions for two major professional organizations (NRF, YMA), which provide scholarships and numerous experiential learning opportunities.
