Professor Shaffer is a long-time Senior Lecturer, focusing on internships, retail management, and the finances of merchandising. In addition to handling domestic internships, engaging with the College’s Walter Center for Career Achievement, and mentoring students on internships and career opportunities, Professor Shaffer is the lead faculty advisor for the Retail Studies Organization, one of the largest and most active student organizations at IU. A recipient of both the Trustees Teaching Award and the Student Alumni Association Student Choice Award for Outstanding Faculty, Professor Shaffer engages students in competitions for YMA and NRF and regularly takes groups to New York City. Before her academic career at IU, she worked for May Company in corporate buying and store management.
