Elida C. Behar is a senior lecturer in the Eskenazi School in merchandising, teaching brand management and advertising, apparel industries, international textiles and apparel trade, and first year seminar. Previously, Elida was an assistant adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology/SUNY, teaching in areas of global merchandising, fashion merchandising, financial planning and assortment, team development, retail math applications at the undergraduate level, and precollege courses. She also taught in the Fashion Marketing graduate program at LIM College; courses included strategic consumer insights in fashion and luxury brand management in the fashion industry. Since June 2015, Elida has been invited to teach global merchandising at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU) in China, being invited to return every year. She has 25+ years’ experience in luxury and off-price retail and merchandising for Saks Fifth Avenue and Daffy’s Inc. Elida has done consulting activities in the shoe industry and the off-price retail sector, and for the Trinidad and Tobago government to support the growth of the fashion industry.
Most recently, Elida taught in the Vogue Summer School pre-college program in New York City to an international student cohort of high school students; she will be teaching in the program again in June 2026.
She earned her MPS degree in global fashion management from the Fashion Institute of Technology/SUNY and her Bachelor of Science in accounting from Fordham University. Most recently, Elida was nominated for the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
