The Kirkwood Fab Lab is a makerspace open for use by all Indiana University students, faculty, and staff. We are here to support you in your creative endeavors whether personal, research, or class related.
The Kirkwood Lab offers laser cutting and engraving services. Appointments to use the facilities may be scheduled at the link below, where you may also schedule a consultation to receive guidance with the equipment. Instructors interested in using Kirkwood Lab equipment in tandem with class projects may schedule a class tour using the same link.
The Kirkwood Lab requests that you schedule an appointment but will accommodate walk-ins if there is capacity.

Equipment
The Kirkwood Lab maintains and operates a Trotec Speedy 100. You are not required to have prior experience to make use of this equipment. A Fab Lab Technician will check your properly formatted files prior to any cutting or engraving. If you require assistance formatting your files, please schedule a consultation. Note the Fab Lab does not offer custom design work.

Currently the Lab cannot provide materials for use with the laser cutters. Lists of approved and not approved materials are below. If you have questions about something not listed or require guidance on sourcing appropriate materials, please contact the Fab Lab directly or schedule a consultation.

Cardboard, Cotton, Synthetic Felt, Linen, Yupo Paper, Matboard, Mylar, Paper, Polyester, Veneer Core Plywood
Not Approved Materials:
Acrylic, Mystery Materials, Adhesive Backed Materials, ABS, Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, HDPE, MDF, Oily/Resinous Wood, Polycarbonate, Polystyrene, PVC, Rubber
