"Mimicry and Mirage" explores the interplay between visibility and concealment, adaptation and deception, through the lens of extended reality. Drawing inspiration from camouflage in the natural world, the exhibition showcases digital artworks that challenge perceptions and invite viewers to question what is seen, hidden, or imagined. These works investigate the concept of camouflage not only as a biological phenomenon but as a metaphor for navigating identity, space, and algorithmic landscapes in an increasingly mediated world.
Through a dynamic fusion of visual art and technology, this group exhibition invites viewers to uncover layered narratives of adaptation, transformation, and the art of blending in. The showcase reimagines XR’s ability to illuminate, or obscure, the boundaries of human perception. This collection features student and alumni works developed in response to research by Professor Christena Nippert-Eng and McKinney Visiting Artist Chelsea Thompto.
